The Safety Management Council of Shizuoka University serves a complementary role: for safety management issues whose jurisdiction is not clearly assigned, it brings the relevant organizations together and coordinates among them.

ABOUT

Overview and Purpose of the Council

With respect to safety management issues arising from education and research activities and from university administration, the Council works to strengthen the university-wide safety management system by promoting collaboration and coordination among the relevant departments and units, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and the University’s internal rules. Its purpose is to prevent accidents, violations of laws and regulations, and other risks to university administration before they occur, and thereby to contribute to the stable and proper administration of the University.

Functions of the Council (Article 4, Rules of the Shizuoka University Safety Management Council)

Collecting, sharing, and organizing information relating to safety management issues.

Providing advice, support, coordination, and proposals to the relevant departments and units concerning compliance with laws and regulations and internal university rules related to safety management.

Promoting collaboration and coordination among the relevant departments and units on safety management issues that involve multiple units or multiple laws and regulations.

Organizing, and examining courses of action for, safety management issues for which the responsible department or unit is not clearly defined, or which are difficult to address through an existing department or committee alone.

Sharing information and cooperating with related university bodies.

Other matters necessary to strengthen the university-wide safety management system.
