生命の誕生は、卵子と精子が受精して始まります。卵子と精子はただの細胞で、一個体になることはできません。しかし、これらの細胞が融合した受精卵から生命が始まるのです。では、一体どのようにして異なる細胞が接着して融合するのでしょうか。実はその分子メカニズムはよく解っていません。私たちは海洋生物を用いて受精の分子機構の解明を目指しています。
The life begins at fertilization which is the process of fusing sperm and egg cells. Fertilization is one of the most important events in living organisms to generate a new life with a mixed genetic background. To achieve successful fertilization, sperm and eggs must undergo complex processes in a sequential order. However the molecular basis of fertilization is still poorly understood. We are focusing on the molecular mechanisms of fertilization using marine animals.
