In the period March 24-26, Daniel Moraru attended the 8th International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICONN-8) held at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

8th International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICONN-8)

He delivered an Invited Talk on a scientific topic based on a collaboration with IIT Roorkee scientists, as follows:
D. Moraru, P. Sudha, and A. Samanta, “Silicon-based single-electron transistors as high-sensitivity photon detectors”
The presentation was followed by constructive interactions and interesting exchanges of ideas with students and researchers present there.

He also presented insights on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for a few hundred high-school students from the area, in a session entitled “Seeding Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Young Minds“, with plenty of interactions nicely arranged by the organizers.

The talk was as follows:
D. Moraru, “Towards Single-Atom Electronic Devices ~a journey into Japan’s opportunities”
There were plenty of questions from the young students for all participants, showing the high degree of interest for these fields emerging in India.

Many thanks to organizers from SRM-IST for the invitation and arrangements for our team from Shizuoka University and not only, as well as for their support throughout this insightful conference.
