Congratulations to our PhD student, Mr. Daris Alfafa, for completing his final PhD defense today, July 17th, 2026. He delivered a very good presentation around a unique topic: “Study of Dopant-Induced Effects and Electron-Wave Interference in Band-to-Band Tunneling of Highly-Doped Silicon pn Junctions”. His work revealed how electron-wave interference can be observed when triggered by even the smallest potential discontinuity in a nanoscale pn junction.
More to come…
It was a 3-year intense but rewarding journey, with many interesting analyses, lots of discussions on various models, several peer-reviewed papers (including in Physica Status Solidi A and Advanced Quantum Technologies), and many presentations in conferences, some with memorable awards. A good overall contribution to our lab, based on individual effort and teamwork.
As a Double Degree Program (DDP) student between Shizuoka University and Universitas Indonesia, there are many people and infrastructures to acknowledge that helped make this work possible. Thanks to everyone who supported this research effort and new findings, and of course many thanks to the committee members, too.
Now, on the last stages of preparation of the final thesis, it is a good time to enjoy the achievements, follow up on a few remaining ideas, and plan the next steps!

Looking forward and all the best towards the next stage of career!
