This week marks the end of a training mobility to our lab, as an exchange student, for Wissam Merahi from Université Clermont Auvergne, France. Thanks to the kind recommendation of Prof. Yamina André, he was able to benefit from an internship combining a short online component with a several-month onsite hands-on experience working on our silicon nanoscale transistors. He especially focused towards analyzing their sensitivity to low-intensity light irradiation.
Wissam-san worked hard to understand the fundamentals of research on nanodevices, learn more about interactions between photons and doped silicon, and figure out how to use single-electron tunneling mechanism to detect photons. Most importantly, he was a good team player, working well with his colleagues in the lab and contributing to our group meetings.
We all wish him all the best for the next stage of his studies. Hopefully, something from the “Hamamatsu experience” will stay with him from now on.
