Nuclear Magnetic Resonance on Quantum Materials

What can we do using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)?

NMR sensitively detects local magnetic field and electric field gradient generated by electronic spins and orbitals, respectively.  NMR also identifies the superconducting order parameter through the local spin susceptibility and excitation measurements.

What is quantum materials?

Many body quantum systems condense into macroscopic quantum states such as superconducting, quantum Hall, and spin liquid states, which involve emergent topological quasiparticles. We explore the low-energy excitation and topological order via NMR spectroscopy sensitive to the local symmetry breaking.
