FY2021  Exchange student in a sister university

鈴木 洋介
創造理学コース4年(化学科)

During the semesters of autumn 2018 and spring 2019, I went to Brno, Czech Republic as an exchange student at Masaryk University. Brno is the second-largest city in the Czech Republic and Masaryk is one of the largest universities in the Czech Republic. I applied to this university as a chemistry student, so I usually took chemistry classes. But international students could take any kind of class they want. I took a Czech language class and a basketball class the last semester. Teachers in Europe want students to have presentations and/or express their opinion. I did not have a chance to do so in high school. But fortunately, I had a lot of opportunities to give presentations thanks to the Creative Science Course. These experiences were definitively a big advantage for me!!

FY2022 Challenging a Taiwanese university master’s course

I think the Creative Science Course is the best at Shizuoka University for preparing students to tackle the world. It was difficult for me to read many papers in English and give presentations in English during my first year of undergraduate study. However, the classes provided in the curriculum helped me build up my skills and confidence. Now I am applying to National Taiwan Ocean University’s master’s course. I could not have imagined this choice as a first-year undergraduate student. However, through the classes in the Creative Science course, I became more confident and willing to take on new challenges abroad.

I was confused at first because many of the classes in the Creative Science Course were in English, but the teachers were very kind and helped me a lot. The course contents are also very different from other departments and are globally oriented. The Creative Science Course contributed significantly to expanding my possibilities.
