Science Cafe in Shizuoka

Prof. Matsumoto had the great opportunity of the outreach activity to talk about our research and dream to the citizen in Shizuoka city. The title of his talk was “Invitation to Molecular Science in Optical Cavity: Sandwiching Molecules between Two Mirrors”.

Research proposal is accepted

Our research proposal “Study on aromatic charge resonance complex probed by IR spectroscopy” has been accepted by the Network Joint Research Center for Materials and Devices. This study will collaborate with Prof. Masaaki Fujii at Tokyo Institute of Technology. We will study IR spectroscopy of solvated clusters with pyrrole dimer cations to investigate the relationship between solvated structures and intra-cluster charge distribution.

Collaborative Study with Prof. Otto Dopfer

Prof. Matsumoto visited the laboratory of Prof. Otto Dopfer at Technical University Berlin on December 5-16 2022. This was the opportunity for our collaborative study supported by the JSPS Bilateral Exchange Program between Japan and Germany. We proceeded to write our manuscript on IR photodissociation spectroscopy of microhydrated pyrrole cations with a lot of fruitful discussions. Fortunately, our paper “Microhydration of the pyrrole cation (Py+) revealed by IR spectroscopy: Ionization-induced rearrangement of the hydrogen-bonded network of Py+(H2O)2” was published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry A (https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.jpca.3c00363).

The 16th Annual Meeting of Japan Society for Molecular Science

We had the 16th Annual Meeting of Japan Society for Molecular Science on 19-22 September at Keio University (Yokohama). Ms. Arisu Hirota (M2) and Mr. Yusuke Ishihara (M2) have provided their oral and poster presentations, in which their titles are “Dual dihydrogen-bond formations of jet-cooled acetylene-alkylsilane clusters studied by IR spectroscopy” and “Study on 13C6H6 large clusters by IR spectroscopy”, respectively. Prof. Matsumoto has also presented an oral talk about “Charge resonance interactions in pyrrole dimer cations and its hydrated clusters probed by IR spectroscopy”.
