There are many plans to bring more of Japan to Romania and more of Romania to Japan having behind them Dr. Yusuke Sumi, Director of the Japan Culture Center of the University Babeş-Bolyai in Cluj-Napoca. Locally, in Shizuoka Prefecture, such plans are also supported by the Shizuoka-Romania Cultural Exchange Association (静岡ルーマニア文化交流協会), through Mrs. Yoko Maruyama and Ms. Sakura Maruyama. They make significant efforts to bring Romanian artists to Japan and also to bring Japanese traditions to Romania, particularly to Iasi.

Today, it was my pleasure to have all of them in a visit to Shizuoka University in Hamamatsu, to exchange some ideas on future projects. Such projects can hopefully build new bridges between Romania and Japan, this time with a focus on the long-lasting and growing relations between Shizuoka Prefecture and Iaşi County, more specifically now between Hamamatsu and Iaşi. We also thank Dr. Marius Dobromir (Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, UAIC, now visiting at our Research Institute of Electronics) and Prof. Mari Hakamata (Shizuoka University) for finding time to meet and discuss some of these ideas.

I hope that, with everyone’s support, as well as with support from Embassies, City Halls, JETRO units, industry partners, and Universities on both sides, more opportunities can be developed for a stronger international collaboration.
A next event of interest seems to be the 3rd Romanian-Japanese Innovation Forum, to be held in Iaşi on Oct. 23-25, 2025, to which hopefully many friends of the Japan-Romania partnership will attend. LINK TO ROMANIAN-JAPANESE INNOVATION FORUM information.

Looking forward to hearing many good news on future projects on this occasion. And looking forward to the next actions from everyone supporting such connections.
