The 6th International Conference on Nano Electronics Research and Education (ICNERE) joint with the 27th Takayanagi Kenjiro Memorial Symposium was held over several days (Oct. 21-23, 2025) at Shizuoka University, Hamamatsu Campus.

Daniel Moraru chaired the Plenary Session with excellent presentations from several professors from Japan, but also from the Head of the Nanotechnology and Materials Science unit of BRIN, Prof. Ratno Nuryadi and Prof. Purnomo Sidi Priambodo (Universitas Indonesia).

This happened just after the official signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) between Shizuoka University and BRIN. This MoU will certainly open new possibilities of collaboration and exchanges on bigger projects and extended exchanges. From our group, Daniel Moraru is one of the representatives of our University, on behalf of our Faculty of Engineering.

The team from UI had several tens of members, mostly staff and a few students, coordinated by Prof. Arief Udhiarto, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department of UI – another good friend and collaborator, and Prof. Djoko Hartanto – the initiator of this relationship along with Prof. Michiharu Tabe. Their efforts and leadership are highly appreciated, as well as the support of the Research Institute of Electronics and the Graduate School of Science and Technology.

There were many scientific exchanges, group discussions, interesting presentations and posters. From our group, students attended actively, and congratulations are necessary to Mr. Baskoro Arif Rianto for a very good oral presentation and Mr. Daris Alfafa for an excellent poster presentation, leading to the Best Poster Award. Congratulations and lots of success ahead as a Double Degree Program (DDP) student between SU and UI!

The presentations delivered from our group are as follows:
(1) D. Moraru, S. Morishita, S. Miyagawa, and M. Dobromir, “Single-Electron Tunneling in Silicon-on-Insulator Nano-Transistors for Sensing Applications” (oral presentation)
(2) B. A. Rianto, D. Alfafa. C. I. Tagirta, A. Udhiarto, D. Hartanto, and D. Moraru, “Study of the Excess Current Through Gap States in Low-Dimensional Highly-Doped Silicon pn Diodes” (oral presentation)
(3) D. Alfafa, A. Udhiarto, and D. Moraru, “Tunneling Current Oscillations in Atomically-Fluctuating Esaki Diodes” (poster presentation) – Young Researcher Award

On the last day, we enjoyed more informal discussions in a beautiful remote natural treasure of Shizuoka Prefecture. We feel all recharged, inspired and encouraged to continue this collaboration for long time. Looking forward to the next extensions of this event…
