The goal of our investigation is achievement of new functional and high efficient devices using nanostructures of Si type materials. In recent years, we have focused our research attention on the development of the materials with very high efficiency and have tryed to create the evaluation technology for it. These are required for materializing of the thermoelectric devices, such as a power generator using waste heat and the self-power generation biosensor. The research titles are listed below.
（１）Achievement of high efficiency in the thermoelectric characteristics by Si nanostructures
（２）Establishment of measurement techniques for characterizing the nanomaterial thermoelectricity
（３）Creation of flexible thermoelectric materials and application to new functional devices
（４）Development of Si single-electron-refrigerator device
